Blue Mountains International Writers’ Residency Program 2021

We are thrilled to announce Varuna has secured funding for the Blue Mountains International Writers’ Residency Program for 2021!

This program is made possible by the Australian Cultural Diplomacy Grants Program offered by The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

In a year marked by travel restrictions and Zoom conferences, this International Residency Program is a fantastic opportunity for writers, local and abroad, to connect and inspire, in 2021.

This residency program will see six international writers gather at Varuna to write, connect and participate in local and national writers’ festivals. In exchange, six of Australia’s most talented writers will participate in residencies at leading artist residencies in China, India, Ireland, New Zealand, North America and Scotland, as far as Covid-19 restrictions allow.

The Blue Mountains International Writers’ Residency Program epitomises Varuna’s ethos of facilitating writing that is celebrated nationally and internationally, and we look forward connecting writers with each other, and audiences alike, in the New Year.
