Each year, Arts NSW provides The Eleanor Dark Foundation with core funding which is used to cover some of the core costs of staffing and running the house and grounds. In addition to this core funding, ArtsNSW also funds the NSW LitLink Varuna Writing program, providing an exciting range of professional development opportunities exclusively for the writers of regional NSW. The NSW Litlink Varuna writing program uses and extends the resources of Varuna, The Writers' House, Australia's national centre for residencies and writing programs.

Macquarie Group FoundationThe Macquarie Group Foundation
The Macquarie Group Foundation provides funding for the Macquarie Group Foundation Varuna LongLines Program, a national writing program offering regional writers professional development and networking opportunities through writing residencies, writing workshops and mentorships. The Varuna Longlines program is designed specifically for writers from remote, regional areas of Australia and Indigenous writers living outside the metropolitan areas of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. The program offers regional writers a pathway to a career in writing.

The Australia Council for the Arts, under the Key Organisations funding category, provides The Eleanor Dark Foundation with core funding which is used to cover some of the core costs of staffing and running the house and grounds.


CALCopyright Agency Limited (CAL)
The Copyright Agency Limited has provided the funding for the Varuna Second Book project, which provides support to writers who have published their first book and are in the difficult phase of developing their next project. CAL Fellowships comprising three weeks retreat at Varuna each year for three years, with mentorship and support from Peter Bishop – Varuna’s Creative Director.

Blue Mountains City CouncilBlue Mountains City Council
The Blue Mountains City Council provides funding for the Varuna Blue Mountains Community Writing Program, which offers support and guidance to Blue Mountains writers through a range of writing courses and activities, as well as providing writers and readers the chance to become part of a national and international community of writers. The Varuna Community Writing Program is funded through the Council's Cultural Partnerships Program.

HOW INDIVIDUALS CAN HELP

BECOME A VARUNA PATRON

Varuna Patrons are philanthropic organisations or private individuals or who donate more than $1000 unconditionally in support of Varuna. Donations of $1000 to $2500 are recognised on our website and Honor Roll for 2 years. Patrons donating $2500 and more are recognised as Life Patrons and recognised on our website and Honor Roll. Patrons are recognised and guaranteed seating at any Varuna formal event and at the Sydney Writers' Festival at the Carrington Hotel.

BECOME A VARUNA FRIEND

Varuna Friends are individuals who make recurring donations of $100 or more each year. Friends are listed on our website and invited to an annual celebratory event. Friends are recognised and guaranteed seating at any Varuna formal event and at the Sydney Writers' Festival at the Carrington Hotel.

BECOME A VARUNA DONOR

Varuna Donors are those who offer a one-off gift of any amount. Donors of over $100 are recognised on the Varuna website.
