Amy was the recipient of a Varuna Award for Manuscript Development in 2005 for her debut novel Omega Park, which won the 2008 Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Best Emerging Author, was shortlisted for the 2010 FAW Christina Stead Award and Winner of the 2012 IBBY Ena Noël Award. She returned to Varuna to begin her second novel Paradise Earth, which then won the 2013 DJ ‘Dinny’ O’Hearn Memorial Fellowship. In 2015, Amy spent three months writing in a cell in Old Melbourne Gaol, a Pentonville model prison like Port Arthur, site of the 1996 massacre that inspired her novel. Paradise Earth is to be published by Stormbird Press in early 2020.
