Andra Putnis was born in Queensland and throughout her career has worked as a public servant, researcher and writer in both the Northern Territory and Canberra. She writes memoir, fiction and poetry. She first came to stay at Varuna after receiving a Pathways Masterclass Award in 2007 and then subsequent Longlines Award for Manuscript Development.
Andra is working on a memoir, Almost Lost, about how her two grandmothers escaped from the Russian and Nazi occupations of Latvia during World War Two and her journey uncovering their stories. She lives in Canberra and is currently working under the ACT Writers’ Centre Hardcopy Professional Development Program to polish her manuscript.
