Katharine Susannah Prichard Foundation Fellowship

Commemorating the friendship between Australian writers Katharine Susannah Prichard and Eleanor Dark, this foundation offers a subsidised residency at Varuna and a residency at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre in Perth.

Key dates

Applications open May 2019, and close Sunday 20 October 2019.

The KSP fellowship will occur between Feb-Jun 2020, and the Varuna fellowship between July and November 2020 (dates negotiated with the recipient).

What KSP are looking for

The Foundation Fellowship is awarded to a WA novelist or short story writer – published or unpublished – who displays exceptional promise in their nominated project, in both their writing style and the premise of the work. It is expected that the Foundation Fellow will be working on a final or near final draft, and will be ready to publish within the following year.

Preference will be given to CALD and young (under 30) writers. Former KSP Fellows and Writers-in-Residence are eligible to apply.

Fees

Successful applicants must be current Western Australian residents, and will be required to contribute travel costs and a subsidised fee of $1,000 to cover both residencies, which includes accommodation and all meals at Varuna, and accommodation, breakfast supplies and unlimited writing group sessions at KSP.
