Helen Hagemann

Helen Hagemann was born in Sydney and grew up on the Central Coast before moving to Perth. She holds an MA in Writing from Edith Cowan University where she first studied poetry. Her collection Evangelyne & Other Poems was published by Australian Poetry, Melbourne (2009) as a recipient of a Macquarie/Longlines Varuna Poetry workshop spending a week in the Bear room of the Writers House in 2008. Her second collection of Arc & Shadow was published in 2013 by Sunline Press, Perth WA. Helen began her literary career as a poet, still writes poetry including prose poetry, and of late has turned to writing fiction. Her debut novel The Last Asbestos Town was published in May 2020 by Adelaide Books LLC, New York USA, and by previously publishing her prose poetry in the Adelaide Literary Magazine and the Adelaide Literary Poetry Anthology 2019, this US publisher supported her path to fiction.
