About Annie Barrett

Having grown up in Melbourne and lived in Tasmania, I have now lived on the east coast of Northern NSW for 25 years. As a writer and counsellor, I love to meander through our inner and outer landscapes. I play with various genres of writing but mostly creative non-fiction. Sitting at writing desks looking out over gums and gardens, absorbing and crafting words in atmospheric rooms and cabins has been a joy and an adventure. I am grateful to have been awarded residential mentorships and fellowships with Byron Writers Festival (2015), the Susannah Pritchard Centre in Perth (2019) and Varuna the Writers House in the Blue Mountains, NSW (2021).

Since 2010 I have brought together my love of creative writing and being with people, together with my counselling and group facilitation experience, to develop and facilitate writing for wellbeing groups.
